DCU Finance students achieved amazing success by becoming the overall winners of the Irish level of the CFA Institute Research Challenge last week.
Run by the CFA Society Ireland, the CFA Institute Research Challenge offers students the unique opportunity to learn from leading industry experts and compete with peers from the world’s top finance programs. This annual educational initiative promotes best practices in equity research among the next generation of analysts through hands-on mentoring and intensive training in company analysis and presentation skills. The Challenge gathers students, investment industry professionals, publicly traded companies, and corporate sponsors together locally, regionally, and globally for a real world competition.
The DCU Business School team was made up of Rachel Delaney (BSI4), Shivam Gupta (MFCM), and Stephen MacNamara (BSI3) and was guided expertly by Dr. Ruchira Sharma. The team had to compete against teams from Queens University Belfast, University College Cork, National University of Ireland, Galway, University College Dublin – Smurfit Graduate Business School, Trinity College Dublin, and Maynooth University.
Following their success, they will now represent Ireland at the CFA EMEA finals in Zurich on 10th & 11th April. An exciting time for our finance students in DCU Business School. Wishing them all the best of luck in the EMEA finals and hopefully going all the way to the Global Finals on April 25th in New York.
