On Wednesday evening, 40 DCU Business School graduates visited Leinster House. Our visit was hosted by Minister of State at the Department of Arts, Heritage and the Gaeltacht, Joe McHugh. The first stop on our visit was to the stairs in Leinster House where we had a photo taken with Minister Heather Humphreys, Minister for Arts, Heritage and the Gaeltacht and Minister McHugh.
A tour of the House followed with our Usher sharing with us, the history of Leinster House and regaling us with many stories of famous people who had visited over the years. We spent some time in the Seanad where the Usher explained to us its purpose and the process for conducting the business of the Seanad.
We spent some time in the Dail Chamber where a private members bill supporting the campaign “Jakes Law” was being discussed. We heard several TD’s giving their view on this bill and learned that all members of the Dail are supporting this bill and that there will be no opposition to it.
Our tour ended with refreshments during which John O’Mahony T.D, whose daughter, Niamh, is one of our graduates, came to meet us as did Brendan Smith T.D.
It was a great evening enjoyed immensely by our graduates and look forward to our next gathering!
